I use appropriated images of commercial and industrial materials to digitally synthesize new material and abstract structure; through integration and association of these images. Using a combination of Google’s and my own associations via related image searches, I incrementally expand the content of each piece from images of specialized utilitarian forms, to more figurative images – a bright red apple, a crude painting of multicolored pills. With the resulting collages, I seek to examine online image content itself as raw-yet-synthetic material that exists in a realm of virtually limitless resemblance, and can be readily sculpted into alternate forms with alternate functionality.
