Have warmth in my daily life
There are deeper meanings with painting and sculpture.
I put affection and longing for a sea of hometown into the wide crockeries.
I express a peaceful scenery on canvas to use impasto technique, like think red clay. This work honestly captures the truth about seascape which is more realistic than reality.
The Marc Chagall pictured hometown in many paintings and the following is quoted from his letter to his friend. ‘Unconscious drawn paintings when I was exhausted by the stress of tough city life was scene of my hometown and it was the source of breath new life into my works.’
For me, Tongyeong is also a vibrant source of life which inspires warmth in emotionally barren city life. I hope my paintings bring out your cherished memories and embrace another ‘Tongyeong’ in yourself.’
